  • Great score to an underated movie. I remember seeing this movie for the first time and I knew I liked it, but I didn't know why. I do remember the soundtrack blew me away. Bravo Francis and Tom, I appreciate the great stuff you gave us, thanks!

  • I was an usher at what used to to be the Loews Paramount in NY,,I used to love to watch this movie, and see and hear different things each time. Very clever opening credits and over all a visually stunning movie, not to mention, and undeserved scathing bad rap from critics

  • Waits + Coppola + Storaro= Masterpiece

  • @Kagemusha08 New Hollywood was already dead before Coppola made this film though, and the big difference between him and Cimino is that he was spending his own money.

I respect Coppola for trying to achieve independence outside the studio system. he failed in the 80's, but he is keeping the Zoetrope dream alive now, with money from his wineries.

  • Heaven's Gate gets the rap for "killing" New Hollywood, but this film certainly did its part, mainly because Coppola insisted on shooting everything on an absurdly elaborate set. It isn't a half bad movie either, but its failure almost destroyed Coppola's career. A big reason why he directed so many mainstream and box-office friendly flicks was to pay off the debt he incurred.

  • que pelicula hermosa, una joya . Siempre me hace llorar cuando franny se va y el le canta en el aeropuerto. Me llega al corazon. de verdad. gracias por postearla.

  • Is the picture supposed to be choppy?

  • It was a revolutionary way of making this movie. Not CGI. Electronics and movie magic on a specially constructed set.

  • The title sequcne was done with miniatures / models and motion control cameras.. no CGI.. I was at the American Zoetrope bankruptcy sale in 1983, and shot a ton of photos of these miniature old-style Las Vegas signs.. they were for sale, about $500.00 each.. couldn't afford to buy one..

  • Oh, my! Thank you so much! What a wonderful intro, my goodness...

  • The soundtrack to this movie is one of the greatest ever. I'm haunted by it's melodious quality and it is so heartbreaking at times. Can't get enuf, really.
