This scroll contains a syntax analysis tree of a sentence from Virginia Woolf's "To the Lighthouse." It was prepared by Dr. Howard Williams of the TESOL/Applied Linguistics faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University, as the grand prize for an end-of-the-year celebration. I won the scroll in a raffle at the celebration, and now post this video as a means of sharing the scroll with other TC students who have enjoyed Professor Williams' classes as much as I have.

  • So much for a "minimalist" approach.

  • To break down, or to build up, that is the question.

  • O.o wow!

  • DAMN! It must've taken you ages to break that sentence down into its constituents.

    Kudos, man. :-)
