Don't know which to buy.

They are exactly the same. The AG-HMC40 is the U.S. version and only sold in the U.S.

great camera! Love it. Except mine just had a "system error" and forced me to restart the camera. after restarting, the SD card became inoperable.  The computer even recognize it and neither will the camera. I really need the footage. Anyone had anything similar?

@JPizzle1122 with that in mind Youtube is marketed more towards consumer than it is prosumers and professionals, while Vimeo is geared more to the professionals. This is the reason while they do not lose image quality while uploading.

Many professionals I have known have to try to get the compressor settings right from the ediing suite when mastering so that when it goes up to youtube the video comes out fine, and not terrible.

@JPizzle1122 i'm a afraid you are mistaken my friend, youtube does have a limit and that limit is up to 10GB, i know this cause I had a friend try to upload a video of me doing stand-up in Standard Def.

Youtube does support hd but they still compress the fuck out of it leaving the video a poorer quality than when the video was orignally mastered.

Just because You tube is popular does not mean it has better technology, that is an overstatement, and a generalization.

This camera looks amazing and I love how it resembles the DVX100 but the HMC40 is also very fun to use and more affordable.

I bought this package, and let me tell you, the telephoto lens is AMAZing, and very needed, since the zoom on the hmc150 is pretty short. the wide angle lens is less useful since the lens, as you said, is pretty wide to begin with. but the hard case is great, plus a soft case, plus a bunch of little thing...all for $3200? I love it, and I'm glad I did it.
