Did you make a group? It has to be closed edges AND grouped.

Am i missing something, I create a shape (closed edges) it seems to make a Face then i push pull. When i try to use the solid tools it advises there are no solids, also the entity inspector shows on area not volume WTF..

btw, is it just me (or the coffee in me) or is Sketchup (and in future with combination with a 3d printer) a super fucking exciting thing? Its like that feeling when you were a child and woke up late to all your friends and cousins already being awake and were doing all the cool stuff and you feel sorry cause you thought you missed everything and .... man i need to lay off the coffee

I'm sure the young lady is a stone fox...but her voice is annoying, sounds like a chipmunk. It's a very amateurish (cheap sounding) presentation that's hard to hear and difficult to stomach. Please find a pleasant professonal voice AND audio equipment. The lack of those qualities, and consistency in sound, and ease of understanding your videos is like getting on an airplane with food from previous meals stuck on the pull down tray. You have little faith in the product.
