Such a beautiful song...

@njstud11 It probably was done on purpose. If you'll notice the fly is crawling on the sandwich that Gatsby's father was eating when Carroway was showing him Gatsby's house. The ring that Gatsby bought Daisy is also visible earlier in the shot. The fly may have something to do the imperfections of Gatsby. Namely, he was a poor boy who made his money through bootlegging and was obsessed with his love for Daisy to a tragic fault.

This song succeeds in saying everything I wish I was able to say with my own words...

So sad and so beautiful!

Splendid video; thanks for posting. One of the best movie soundtracks ever. I till think, though, that Christopher Reeve would have made a much better Gatsby.

This song was in the TV show "Cheers" when Sam is imagining Diane and him dancing to this when they are very old. Remember that ??

I had to read this book when I was a Senior in High School. As a surprise, our teacher arranged for us to see the movie when it came out. That was 1974.
I love this, thank you!
1:49 I love that little musical flourish after "when I'm alone"
