Last week I went to Spyderco's meeting in Amsterdam, where Spyderco owner Sal Glesser and his son Eric showed various production prototypes, and all those present could handle them and give feedback. A splendid day. Dutch knife forum member Wouter was the official photographer and meanwhile he put his pictures online. I use these as basis of my slideshow and meanwhile I comment on my impressions of every knife, singling out my personal favorites.

  • will you be going to the 2012 meet?

  • @everythingstaken001 Alas, no. I've just relocated to Asia for the next two years.

  • Thinking about getting my first spyderco and im leaning towards the paramilitary 2, what do you think?

  • @Tkenney420 If you like the operation of the compression lock, then I am sure you'll love it.

  • Yes, SOME of the knives made in taiwan are nice, BUT NOT ALL. I have found MANY flaws in the fit and finish of taiwnese made knives or any thing else made by CHEAP overseas asian labor.

To say you would'nt mind all knives being made in taiwan is WRONG!

We need to support the AMERCAN worker by purchasing products MADE IN THE U.S.A. You, being a pilgrim, are out of touch with our current U.S. job rate. *!*

  • @neonightkiller Indeed, probably not ALL, but the Taiwan-made Spydercos (except the unavailable Chicago & Cat) are in my experience all excellent, in fact they are amongst my best made production knives.

By the way, If I were following your reasoning, I should not buy ANY Spyderco or any other American brand but only buy European brands like Böker, Eka, Helle... All good brands but that would be limiting: I prefer to focus on variety, quality and quality/price, no matter where it's made...

  • @EpicSnuggleBunny

Nevermind, I found it and I'm in love.

  • Does anyone know the name of the ethnic looking blade made by the Persian designer? He compares it to the Masad Ayoob blade but I couldn't catch the name.

  • the sound the Navaja makes would be described as a "ratcheting" sound. BTW-this is one awesome preview / review. Thank you so much.
