I have a car that sounds like this.

dont put your finger in the attractive place

@ivankoran , wrong, uhh...sorry,uhh ...please reconsider your opinion. It is a 6-cycle. There are actually 8-cycle engines made commercially long ago for pumping water. Do the research before commenting...please!

@jack9102 A six stroke engine is a gas steam engine. Four strokes for gas and two strokes for water
-
That is a "Hit & Miss" engine. This concept was invented in 1867 by Otto Langen. Over the years it was improved upon and evolved into the hit & miss engine, used widely between 1906 and 1930 until it was replaced by the internal combustion engine.
A viewer might believe that this is a "6-stroke" engine because of the infrequency of the power stroke. The power stroke is activated by a centrifugal governor when revolutions drop below a desirable level.
Stay in school.

there is no such thing as a six-stroke engine, but i guess it's just a euphemism of hit and miss engines

@SomeGuyInSandy So this is a "hit and miss" regulated engine. They used to build those for farm machinery. It has a big efficiency advantage at light loads. The combustion is always the optimized one and you control how often to control the average power.
They even made them where the piston only moved on the working strokes.

@TAPriceCTR If the engine was under a load rather than free wheeling it would run more evenly than you see in this video. Simple! :)
-
@TAPriceCTR When the rpm fall below a certain number, the governor (the three balls on the other side of the flywheel) releases pressure on a rod that then engages a clutch which drives the rod you are talking about back and fourth, it is connected to the cam shaft. The rod is connected to the intake valve, and allows fuel into the engine. Spark always occurs at the top of the compression cycle whether there is fuel or not. Add fuel, the rpm increases activating the governor again.

I fail to see what that clicking armature is doing 3 times intermittantly
i have one cuestion: How u made the carb?
SthealthRaider 2 years ago
@SthealthRaider I cut away all the material that didn't look like a carb
