An excerpt from my film "Sketches of Nothing by a Complete Nobody".
Its the opening to a section of the film where I deal with the true story of my attempt to put on a play while living behind the theatre.
The idea of this opening came to me a couple months before I finished the film. I was just editing the film today and as I was looking over this piece I thought "hell this aint bad".
The quotes and images are as follow:
"O for a muse of fire" Henry V- Me on the stage of the theatre
"But I that am not shaped for sportive tricks" Richard the 3rd- Leonardo Da Vinci's sketch of "Grotesque Heads"
"To be or Not to be" Hamlet- Kurt Cobain
"Come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts" Macbeth- Susan Smith (drowned her two young sons in a lake)
"I will preserve myself" King Lear- Me again
"Out, out brief candle" Macbeth- Four little girls killed in Birmingham Chruch Bombing
"Peace. I hate the word" Romeo and Juliet- Malcolm X
"Speak the Speech I pray you" Hamlet- "The Actor" by Pablo Picasso
The last montage are book covers as I play them over three different audio versions of the end of the Prologue of Henry V. One of them is from a standard audio book. The another from Lawrence Olivier's "Henry V". And the last "our play" voice is Derek Jacobi from Kenneth Branaghth's version of Henry V.

A dramatic escape from your other hard-hitting poetic musical formats...Like you opened on Broadway! Love it...

Fabulous clip! Has the whole film made it to the southern parts of Illinois? I'd love to see it.
