Excerpts (no sound) from amateur color footage in the Prelinger Archives, taken at the 1939 New York World's Fair, showing firstly the Savoy Ballroom exhibit, and secondly jitterbugs dancing to Glenn Gray and his orchestra.

  • ok stop thinking with a 2011 mentality 2 women dancing at this time frame was not considered lesbian in nature grow up. Just like the word gay meant happy and not homosexual at one time.@ the busted gut

  • My Father was in the RCMP Musical Ride at that World's Fair, when war was declared. He immediatly volunteered and was shipped overseas with the Canadian Ist div. # 1 Provost Corps. Many American men also Volunteered to fight the Nazis. But America did not join the fray untill Dec. 1942 after Pearl harbour.
