  • A remix is taking a song's motif and using it to create a significantly different song.

You didn't do that. You only changed the song's instrumentation. Changing the instrumentation of a song only makes an arrangement.

  • @LiamDonov - Fair enough.

    - I had an epic mother who taught me the 'zen of gaming' which lead me to stay calm no matter how many times I've died, rage quit was never part of my vocabulary :)

  • @LiamDonov

A remix, usually, keeps the arrangement intact but might make a longer intro and stuff. By remix ppl tend to mean either an improved (also called remaster) version with better mixing, or a dancefloor-prepared track.

An arrangement can take the melody of the source and put it to a completely new backing, it can take parts of the source and put them in a new order, basically new chords, new order of the different parts, maybe a different style. Arranges also have some original parts.

  • @KageTori12 hey i made that comment like a year ago and you still got it wrong.

    - an arrangement is when a composer or arranger takes a song and writes it for different instrumentation. say when someone wants a symphony for a percussion ensemble - they take that symphony and ARRANGE it (see what i did there)

    - to remix is to take a song's general motif and idea and use it to create something new. as in, different enough to be a new song, rather than just "(original song name) for strings"

  • @LiamDonov No, you've got that backwards.

An arrangement is to ARRANGE the music different from the original sound.

A remix is changing the instrumentation of the song, usually to techno sounds/saw leads etc.

  • the electric guitar's a badass touch

  • @shikaguggle hey guess what. you're an idiot. i made that comment like four months ago. nobody has given a shit for at least four months.

  • @LiamDonov ayyy shut the fuc kup

  • @farmhousemedia3000 It's a pretty nice arrangement, if nothing else.
