Lia has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, likely as a result of her and her twin suffering from twin-to-twin-transfusion syndrome (TTTS) in utero. She is 19 months old in this video and has been in extensive therapy (PT, OT, ST/feeding, and pool). She is perfecting the use of a gait trainer to walk, and has just now pulled herself to standing, all the way from lying down. She is an incredible little girl with so much determination, as you can see by the way she is struggling. There isn't anything this girl won't do! Oh, the pink stripes on her back is a tape called Kinesio tape, another therapeutic intervention.

  • Thanks, cynambo. I would ask one of her therapists if the tape is available for her. Both her PT and OT do her taping. They've also taught me how to do it at home. Best wishes to your daughter, too!

  • my 3 year old daughter has hypotonic (low tone) cerebral Palsy and she was about 2 years when she was able to pull to stand. I am now curious if that kinesio tape will work on her back and legs, she has very low tone legs. Congratulations on Lia's accomplishments! wish you guys the best.
