Cliff Edwards sings That's My Weakness Now. Recorded on 7th December 1928. Transferred using a studio condenser microphone on the horn of my HMV 163 gramophone.
Cliff was such a talent. A beautiful singing voice, a ukulele virtuoso and always such a force for optimism. No wonder Walt Disney cast him as the up-beat Jiminy Cricket.
Thanks. Probably the definitive recording of the song and outstanding audio fidelity for the era. The 78 sounds even better played on a modern turntable/cartridge and audio system. The bass is beautifully recorded. It comes in on the second chorus in 2/4 then, in the 3rd chorus plays slap-breaks that give the sub-woofer a good dusting off. William T Budgerigar
great sound quality, atop one of the best uke tunes ever.
