Although the Leyland National 2 did have the Leyland 680/690 engine hence National 2's sounded pretty similar to an Atlantean at times. The wail you hear in an Atlantean is due to the radiator fan.

simples a semi automatic is like a geared box except no clutch to get thru the gears also you can set off in any gear
-
Could you explain how a semi-auto box works?

National's have a 510 engine, Atlanteans have the 680 engine. Yes the atlanteans are very beefy. I'm currently restoring blackpool's atlantean 343 (ghg343w)

My grandad used to drive atlanteans many years ago. Semi-automatics, Very nippy busses for a double decker

A bit of a rattle!

Yes, I'm surprised how much I miss the GM standard Atlanteans and Fleetlines too! I miss them almost as much as Blackpool's Leyland PD3s! Modern buses have no character.

I don't particularly remember travelling on any Blackpool buses but I have seen the seats in the trams - much suited to the Balloon Cars rather than the Atlanteans!
Nice thrash! But what's with the seats?!

Ah it looks like you need to go on more Blackpool transport stuff, the seats are quite common amongst the buses and even some trams. UWW11X has a very tidy full matching set of these seats. Perhaps Blackpool specified this mocquette? I thinks its the only place I have seen it .......yet.

Hi, this bus with semi-auto gearbox or fully-auto gearbox??

It was a semi-auto, the driver was using the gears with his left hand, and using high gears so didn't allow a lot of thrash compared with some Atlantean rides I have had.
