  • Can you make a plate without a bat? How do you get it off the wheel head? I'd like to watch you trim a plate, mine look like shallow bowls.

  • Hi Simon, I'm having a heck of time with plates. They did great until the glaze firing. Check out my kiln opening video #2.. What do you think I did wrong?

  • I retired from custom picture framing after 33 years and my new passion is ceramics. I started classes at the local college this fall and wheel throwing has been a challenge for me as my hand and back strength is not so great. I keep trying though and this was fun to watch as are the others you have produced. Thanks so much.

  • Daniel, I find S-cracking from not compressing the bottom of your bwls and plates, ( Simon is going back and forth several times across the bottom here). Not allowing the pcs dry evenly also has alot to do with it. Flip pcs alot keep them covered with dry cleaning bags.I place a foam cushion inside under lrg pcs to prevent caving when upside dwn. I also recommend leaving upside down thru most of drying.Porcelain and smlr grained clays are the worst at S-crkg. DebraRay

  • I was thinking the same thing as I looked at the dials on my motor control! Ha ha. It is inevitable, I guess.

  • I imagine Simon's camera is the dirtiest camera ever. :D

  • It is unbelievably calming to watch you mold. You got yourself a new subscriber. : ) Maybe i'll show you the cow I once made out of clay. Turned out beautifully. I'd love to try pottery next.

  • il have a try :)

  • Thanks again Simon, LOVE this stuff. We in California like to dip too! My daughter and I hadn't had dinner yet and you talk about "dipping"...time to eat!!!!
