What do the cars actually weigh? That determines the actually pulling power: I.D.B.H.P.
-
I counted 30 carriages, not including the tender

What happens when it goes downhill?
BucketSeeker 4 months ago
@BucketSeeker Another good question.
The answer is exactly what would happen to a real steam engine; it goes faster! And going uphill it goes slower.
This doesn't happen to 12v electric engines but it does make live steam much more fun to operate. For example did you notice at the beginning of the clip after the loco had taken up the slack in the load you have to put on enough power to create "wheelsip" to get the load moving. Just like the real thing!

Is Flying Scotman's funnel crooked at the start?
steamengineshooray 1 year ago
@steamengineshooray It does look crooked doesn't it!
To put oil in the loco you remove the funnel and maybe it didn't get put back properly before the run. I'll be a bit more careful next time

@modeltrainman12345 What an interesting question!
Over to the Live Steam section on the Hornby Forum and see if anyone has tried to do it......
