no actually, very different. trance is derived from, but not even close(anymore) to what techno is. techno is repetitive, trance has a more "constantly mutating sound".

All musicians wants to express what the hear; Spherical sound! The sound of live, vibrating and evolving.
I think i agree with tuebeheadz.
This is a need of every human beeing to shake and rumble. that's why the history of electronic dance music is so successful.

I'm sure I'll get some flack for this, but yes most of the electronic genres are more similar then they are different. If the song has a 4/4 beat it's just a matter of taste in what it's called.

i disagree about the techno part, but it is more like trance and many of its subgenres. so i'd say it might have been the trance music of its time.
