@jshremshock You can also put a finger in the bottom and run it out and back in several times, compressing the clay. Its always worked for me.

You're probably the only guy in all of your tube who can actually throw off the hump correctly. THANK GOD!! Have you guys seen those other crap videos? Dont listen or try to learn from them (except for the one with the asian guy) all that they teach you is both bad techniques and habits. Thank you jshremshock for bringing an actually HELPFUL video to youtube.

Thanks for the video! I think I'm going to try this today...I hope it doesn't turn out to be an exercise in frustration! LOL

Another great clip Josh. That is a sweet Kyusu teapot.
thanks for the video...i seem to get more s-cracks throwing off the hump....how do you avoid them?

i know what you mean about the S-cracks. In the past i also had a similar problem. How i avoid them is by doing a bunch of things...trying to cover all my bases (no pun intended). First the clay that I use has a fair amount of grog in it.. probably more than most would prefer. Second I cone the portion im working with a lot. Third I trim my bottoms pretty thin and do some compression after its trimmed by pinching the inside and outside of the bottom with two hands. I hope that makes sense
