The oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that Union Soldiers, led by General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas, with the news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. It is a happy time in the neighborhood with games and activities for all. 25 souls accepted Christ as their Saviour during the celebration in 2010.
