A nice explanation about main benefit of Yoga postures - asanas. I also agree that the fundamental effect of Yoga postures is to regulate and control hormonal secretions and in this way achieve deeper harmony between our emotions or mental propensities.

"Our human body is a pharmacy in itself!" You explained nicely how asanas have a powerful bio-chemical effect on the body-- they are comparable to drugs in that they can help one to achieve a healthy hormonal balance, but without the negative side effects. Asanas are perhaps the most holistic way to allow us to control our hormonal secretions and subsequent emotions, instead of being controlled and directed by them... which is very important to spiritual practice.
