Filter flo was the best idea ever. When I bought my latest wash machine, I looked for it everywhere but can't find a Filter Flo machine anywhere. It removed lint well and prevented my drains from clogging! Now all that shxx goes down the drain. Not good. And it definitely distributed the soap well. Maybe new manufacturers should get ideas from old machines:???

I miss these washers! The new GE's don't hold a candle to the old ones. Bring the filter-flo washers back.

@mateokozhaya I think I was using Arctic Power, a high sudsing Canadian detergent. I still have some of the old stuff with phosphates.

Wow! This brings back memories of the filter flo my mom used to have. It was a great washer and got the job done really well. The only major problem it had was a worn belt (which was replaced with no problem). When we moved, my mom decided to get rid of it.
We now have a Kenmore HE3t and while it also does a great job at cleaning clothes and is more energy efficient, the cycles take FOREVER because of that auto-balance crap. I miss the filter flo. I wish GE still made these!!

I wish they still made these too, there are still some good ones out there on Craigslist. Easy to work on.

@eddy1210 i just bought one from a neighborhood appliance shop and wondered what was the filter used for

@honeyluke Hi, the filter is used for 2 things: dispensing the detergent and filtering the wash and rinse water. You will get a big ball of lint in that pan that you will clean out after the wash.
