***There is some distorsion in the highs due to the video editing program, sorry***

You are listening to an Ampeg B18 Head from 1965 plugged into a new TC Electronic 2x10 Cab, then I plug in the RH450 Head with eq and tube control to make it sound like the old Ampeg...It had been done in 5 minutes, just for fun, anyway it gets pretty close...I did the same with my old Walter Woods and Mesa Boogie Walkabout...and I can voice the RH450 very close to both.

Enjoy...meanwhile I am gonna get a better software...;-)

  • well i did the same thing to compare that same TC configuration to my ampeg BA115 HP.... believe it or not but thet ampeg wins (!!!!)

the story is, I needed an amp capable to amplifie an electric bass and an upright.

I went TC because of all I red and watched onnet. Everybody seems to be so satisfied that i didn't even try it and bought it... Mistake!! 1st gig on electric and the tone's nice, the volume is there but THE AIR DON'T MOVE!!!! I can't explain another way. I like my small ampeg better

  • The Portaflex sounds like a huge fart!

  • Ampeg has more bottom, but TC sports modern features and presets in lightweight package. I´d go with TC though.

  • I'd love to hear the Mesa WA vs TC Elec. I have a WA head and am thinking about an RS212

  • The ampeg has no compression

  • I tried mesa, ampeg and tc cabs all after one another at the local guitar shop , and I was very suprised at the clarity of the tc as well as its wide range

  • Nice. Hard to tell the difference.

Can you post the settings on the TC450?

  • What were your EQ settings on the RH450? Did you change any of the frequencies?

  • Even with the distortion you could make out much of the character of the RB450... that was cool. Thanks for posting it.

  • I know where you going to, I some times try to emulate the sound from my ampeg´s B15, B18X and V4 with my SVT-4 pro and Mesa BB 750 and you can some times feel that you get pretty much the same tone until you go back to the old ones and realize that something in the new ones where missing.. =O
