VIDEO!....Mike Barry performs live at Sha Tin College Fair with Shimali de Silva joining him on the Amy Winehouse song "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"... Video by Sarah (Xah-Xah) Yasmeen who was shooting under difficult conditions! This is a Thaaargler Production. Produced and edited by Derek Carrington, a promising newcomer to the business, who produces and edits all Mike's videos. In answer to a question, the song played over the titling and credits is Mike's "The Sun Will Shine Again" from his 1997 album of the same name. Also here on a separate video. This is a very rare video of Mike Barry who has been performing on stages in various parts of the world since the 1960's.He was founder and leader of his first band ,the Sabres, He then went on to play with the Black Saints and Johnny and the Stormriders. As founder and lead guitarist with Buddy Earl and the Vibratones, he quickly gained a fan following as a guitarist. He taught his first guitar students during the late '60's. His first recording was "Tallahassee Lassie" on the old City of London label. During the '60's he went on tour in Germany with his band, the Vibratones, He was also doing studio session work in London with other bands. He did many shows with stars of the '60's and '70's including Billy J. Kramer, the Barron Knights, and Roy Castle. During the '70's he played with the Alan Warburton Show band and in 1978 won an Entertainer of the Year award. In the same year he also did some TV work, appearing in an episode of Anglia Television's "Backs To The Land". He came to Hong Kong in 1980 and performed in cabaret with his own show at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile for 3 nights. The show was a sell-out. He then went on to regular performances at The Lord night club in Kowloon. In 1982 Mike was asked by an international school to start teaching guitar to students as an extra curricular activity, He agreed and has been teaching guitar at various schools and evening institutes since April 1982, In September of that year he started to teach privately at homes. In 1986 Mike appeared on the RTHK show Youth Club and was interviewed with his one of his guitar students. Mike continued to perform, firstly with the John Meir Showband and later as a solo artist. During 1994, one of his students, Louisa Jorge, recorded another of Mike's songs "Don't Turn Out The Light" at his own studio. In 1997 Mike recorded his best-selling album "The Sun Will Shine Again" which has sold steadily since its release in August of that year. In 1999 Mike was asked to appear at the Millenium Celebrations at the Happy Valley Racecourse on New Years Eve. In 2009 and 2010 he was the featured musical act for Operation Santa Claus. Mike is also known as Hong Kong's Man Of 1000 Songs. He is available on selected dates in the New Year.
Mike has now branched out into writing, and some of his stories can be found at www.booksie.com under his real name, Mike Carrington
