Obama disaster taking a turn call it Obama's McChrystal Clear Folly, but still down another dead end road in Afganistan
. "It makes sense to get rid of the clerks and replace them with trigger-pullers,"
September 3, 2009 (LPAC)—Despite what the Commander of the U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal says, his policy on the ground is not to win the hearts and minds of the Afghans, but to enhance violence — exactly as designed by the British. His assessment to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates of the necessity of working with the Afghan people is a throwback to the Vietnam War's Civil Operations and Revolutionary Developments (CORDS), which ended disastrously killing more people.

Reports indicate U.S. officials are planning to add as many as 14,000 combat troops to the American force in Afghanistan by sending home support staff and under-utilized soldiers and replacing them with infantry units, Defense officials told the media. "It makes sense to get rid of the clerks and replace them with trigger-pullers," said one Pentagon official, speaking on condition of anonymity, because the plans have not been announced. This is a clear indication that McChrystal, a poor strategist and ruthless Special Ops commander, is enhancing the kill-power at the cost of the war support system.

Meanwhile, the violence in Afghanistan reached a new high on Sept. 2 when Afghanistan's deputy intelligence chief, Abdullah Laghmani, was among at least 23 people killed in a suicide bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan. Along with him, the head of the provincial council, the provincial chief executive and the former head of religious affairs in the provincial government were also killed, provincial governor Lutfullah Mashal told a news conference. Reports from Afghanistan indicate that Abdullah Laghmani was in essence the country's spy chief, and was an important element in the US-NATO's intelligence-gathering efforts in Afghanistan.
