  • Frigg That If I had to go through that every time i came in i wouldnt go out.

  • I have been in a situation just like the one in this footage @2.44 going through the bishops heading back too Bluff and when it happened I had already accepted that we would turn over and getting out the wheelhouse was the first thing on my mind...I am no hero but too be honest we had no time to shit ourselves survival mode kicks in...when we came out of it the right way up we all laughed about it after wards..our boat wasn't small either 68ft alloy cray-boat.

  • @scurpenin Well well well!...You can express yourself in words of more than one syllable. And you now bring a constructive idea yourself. Why didn't you say that the first time?!?!? Anything that keeps the craft from broaching, and most seas move faster that any loaded fishing vessel of that size. You still wouldn't want to use a bow thruster to steer the bow back into line?

  • @Josiebenn

what do you mean with "professional"?

I'm a commercial fisherman, a charter boat operator and a boat & yacht broker.

Following seas are very difficult to manage with a boat with deep and log keel as these have

What could help is enough engine power to not be slower than the following sea and enter the inlet before the waves break.

  • @scurpenin So WHY do you think not? my suggestion was constructive, your reply is devoid of your reasoning.... if there is any. I asked to hear from the professionals. Appears you are not one yourself.

  • @Josiebenn

    I think not

  • queens english with the Kiwi twist...unlike american english butcher'd by gung ho slang---get an education

  • Would Bow Thrusters be of any use? (I grant they could not be retrofitted into older craft) Having one might assist avoiding the threatened broach by steering the bow at the crucial moment. Just a thought, would like to hear from the professionals.

  • Terrible language !

  • dig a new outlet for the river. use the old as harbour without the river force
