Theres something not quite right at 53 /54 in this recording.
Its either timing or false note,
Any ideas?

In America we play piano, but Apparently in Soviet Russia the Piano Plays you!

What a beautiful tender recording. This man has complete control and the tempo for me is perfect.
I know the piece and have played it and have heard many recordings but this one is a gem (followed by the Rachmaninoff).
One often hears things with some performances that they had never heard before and this version does that. The left hand is very legato especially given that it has to jump around a bit and the total effect is masterful.
What a pleasure.
Thanks for making it available.

Great declamation, forward motion, color contrast, and planning. Love how he concludes the trill measures with a careful crescendo on the falling dotted quarters E flat to C, and then B flat beginning the next measure. What a fine idea for moving ahead there!

I always wanted to listen to Sofronitsky performing this Nocturne, but thought he had not recorded it. It was so pleasent to find out that the version exists!!!
Much thanks Truecrypt!
What sense lies in adding my two sents to the comments?! The performance says it all.
Sofronitsky is legend!
Truecrypt, really there are no of his videorecordings???

I tried hard, but so far couldn't find a single video file of Sofronitsky! ;(

@truecrypt His daughter Roxanne said in an interview (in 1999 or 2000, I think) that as far as she knew there's no video recording of Sofronitsky unless they videotaped him during the Potsdam Conference, which is not impossible since they videotaped at least one violinist. Roxanne tried to find out if they recorded Sofronitsky there, but she found no information.

Yes, I know... Still I find it inapprehensible! One of the greatest pianists of XX century... and we don't have any "video evidence" of his existence. It's not even sad, it's tragic...
