Bernard Lietaer argues that the monoculture of money is what creates economic instability, leading to liquidity crises. He calls for a greater diversity of alternative currencies, citing innovative and enormously successful initiatives like the Lithuanian Doraland Economy, the Torekes in Belgium and Switzerland's famous alternative currency, the WIR.

  • This is an amazing lecture I think everyone who watches this should try and help get that view count up to 12 million. Knowledge is power and I feel a little more powerful after watching that :)

  • Bank debt taxes give money value. Money is an agreement within a community. We're like fish in water; we live in a monetary system, we die in a monetary system, and we have NO idea what the Hell it actually is. Things that should be taught in schools from elementary to College. Unfortunately, it isn't.
