Documentary about the Tongva, Native American culture that was declared extinct, the Tongva culture survived many years in secret.

This documentary was presented in the TV Show Al Norte de Mexico. There is a part when the video is lost but the audio it's ok, sorry about that i captured this from a non-digital source (TV UNAM)

@greatsea If the guy speaking looks white, that is not his fault. The Tongva were practically wiped out by smallpox epidemics. Only those with white blood survived, they had a bit of immunity. If the Europeans hadn't come and stolen the land in the first place, he would "look" a bit more Native American.

This was amongst the most valuable real estate of all stolen by the white man. What a hellish nightmare for the poor Tongva! They are relatives of the Aztecs. Some say Los Angeles County is Aztlan, the Aztec's original home. Some say the Takic peoples came originally from the area of Yellowstone. When they got here, they cut a Yuman people in half. The northern ones became the Chumash, the southern ones the Diegueno or Ipay. Chungichnich, their great hero, started the Jimson Weed religion.

Tribes. Everyone comes from tribes. If its a Norse tribe, An African Tribe, a South American Tribe, or even a Mongolian tribe, we all come from tribes. Different lands call for different life styles and different traditions. People have migrated into different cultures before... Swiss-German, Mexican-American, ect ect. The fact is out in plain view. This man knows the tribe in and out. He is with the tribe, He has done many good deeds for the tribe. This man is of Tongva spirit.

If that guy sitting at the beginning is Tongva then I'm a Commanche warlord. His name is probably Larry. Maybe with 1/64th of some California tribe that is not even Tongva, if Indian at all. Every city has a guy like this. I'll never forget at Ft. Hood during activation for Desert Storm, some guy who looked like Philip Seymour Hoffman kept telling us he was Cherokee.

the real mexicans too were colonized by the spanish the same happened but very few traditions as in the majority speaking indignous languages survived we too were forced to speak spanish we too were forced to have spanish names so im kinda not on the side of what he s saying by being mexicanized.
