(2) Usually, the word "celiac" is reserved for those with detectable damage to their intestines. But you can be gluten intolerant and not having any damage yet. It still means you should avoid gluten. The blood test will often just be positive if the intestine is already damaged enough to let antibodies enter your blood. There is not really any reason to distinguish between celiac and gluten intolerant. It is just two stages of the same thing. Luckily, more and more people find out.
Skulldrill (what a nickname you have, btw...) > you are not only extremely rude and emotional, but also wrong. Celiac disease is not fatal. It may range from the almost unnoticed to very severe cases. My aunt had celiac disease diagnosed when she was 75 - after a whole life as gluten intolerant, without knowing it. It didn't kill her but gave her stomach aches, diarrhea, malnutirition - the usual stuff.
haha, it is suprisingly common, for the "real" thing, i myself have it(posatvie test from biopsy &blood tests etc) and im 17 i was undiagnosed and misdiagnosed for 4 years of pure pain and im still here :)
Stop arguing its not worth it. I have all of the symptoms and am having a blood test next week, im not looking forward to it (im understandably nervous at what i might find) but it has to be done and at least i cen then get on with my life :) As i understand it Celiac is linked to bowel cancer which my dad recently had (hes in remission now thankfully) so its possible i could have Celiac, we will just have to see. But hey guys its not worth fighting over, each to their own.
You didn't have to say sorry.... Just ok is good enough. Seeing as how you had a positive biopsy and you feel well enough is good that means you will never get the severe permanent damage that my mother has back then to get diagnosed you had to be at death's door to get recognized as a celiac. Just don't obsess about it some people let it rule their lives by say bitching restaurant employees out.
Were you diagnosed by a positive biopsy? Maybe you just had a positive IGG test. That isn't celiac. A lot of healthy people test positive for IGG. Maybe you craped in a bucket and sent it to Enterolab? He is a scam! He tells people what they want to hear. Real celiacs are truely sick.
Why don't you try to shut my yap you ignorant bitch. you damn faking ignorant little bitch. Face it not everybody inards feel good but it doesn't mean they have celiac disease. Seeing my mother waste away in front of my 8 year old eyes really taught me about celiac disease she damn near died she wouldn't absorb any nutients and her heart was close to stopping from the lack of electrolyes in her blood she looked like a concentration camp victim.
If you have celiac disease then you are not exactly fine people who have celiac disease are at a way more risk for non hodgekins lymphoma and even on the diet their gut's still hurt. There is NO such thing as having celiac disease and not knowing it! You are spouting a pile of crap! Celiac disease is auto immune and it is very serious. No one is ever fine from it! It is NOT common now say neurofibromatosis that is more common and you don't see a pile of them around do you?
EXCUSE ME! i have celiac disease and im fine. my teacher's nephew has it and she didnt even know so it is common. and we dont want attention we want to get better so shut ur yap and stop judging us cuz i dont wanna hear it.
