Yep pbjm0295 is right in NC there are wild horses there in a protected area. Your cannot shoot or hunt or anything like that. The wild horses today are direct desendents of those way back in the 1500's when Europeans would through live cattle over board when they got stuck on sand bars so they had less weight. Those horses swim to the shore. Pretty interesting to know I thought.

to the comment below me, there are, trust me, i go out there all the time, and i see them almost every time, there is not nearly as many as there used to be, but some truely original horses are still there XD

i heard that there are no truly wild horses here anymore due to beach development, and some jerkweeds were actually shooting them because as long as they were there, the developers couldn't build, so they wanted them out. I wonder when the last time someone saw a wild one here?
