that's true...I guess that's the problem with the movie. Does he still maintain the same intellectual capacity as he does (as an adult). They never really went in to that much detail. Either way I thought it was an interesting ending and I actually preferred it to the typical "hollywood" ending that the film ended with.

Everyone's saying that a fetus wouldn't be able to decide to do that..well, when you think about it, whenever he went back to change a moment in how past, he kept his own mind, like when he swore at kayelys dad in the basement, a six year old wouldn't do that! NONE of this film is realistic, its not supposed to be! Just appreciate it for what it is, a bloody good film!

@noh4241 well yeah... that's definitively true but... can you really do it? like, is the brain of the fetus capable of consciousness like that? moving and doing that on purpose? I don't think so, I don't think fetuses are really capable of planning something or doing something like that, I think they just react to stimulation. So if you go back to your times as a fetus I don't think you can kill yourself, you wouldn't be able to move really well actually...

you do know that there are many cases where fetus' end up with their umbilical cord around their neck choking them. Its called a nuchal cord, it happens during 6-35% of pregnancies, though most resolve there are instances where the fetus does choke on the chord, especially with polyhydramnios, or excess fluid due to congenital renal hypoplasia.
8 years later, the movie was made in 2004, so that's this year. People in the movie all have jobs. Oh how wrong they were..

In the "open ending", Ashton looks like a stalker, and the ending where she recognizes him and they agree to a coffee date is flat out lame. The theatrical version is the best to me because he saw her, but he let it go because he wants her to continue to live a stable life.
