Chicago, 1968. Two Nuns take to the streets and ask people "Are You Happy?" The responses of people range from comments on the war in Vietnam to "raspberries."

The humor and sadness of these honest encounters lift the film beyond its interview format to a serious and moving inquiry into the concerns of contemporary man, and also into the circumstances in which men will actually express their concerns.

A time-capsule of the late Sixties and a classic of cinema verite filmmaking, INQUIRING NUNS was inspired by Jean Rouch's Chronicle of a Summer and was made by Chicago's Kartemquin Films (creators of Hoop Dreams, Typeface, The Interrupters).
