practice of kao 靠 with the shoulder and hip.
1. extending fist (Ma Bu Cheng Chui 马步撑捶)
2. low kick (Chuo Jiao 戳脚)
3. elbow push (Ding Xin Zhou 顶心肘)
4. rotation of the arm (Gun Bei 滚臂)
5. strike with the shoulder/hip (Tie Shan Kao 贴山靠)
6. tiger jumping (Hu Pu 虎扑)
7. strike with the shoulder/hip (Tie Shan Kao 贴山靠)
two more times.
8. downward palm (Pi Shan 劈山)
9. strike with the shoulder/hip (Tie Shan Kao 贴山靠)
notes:
1. the hand/foot(move 2); elbow/knee (move 3); shoulder/hip (move 5) have to be in harmony. 手与足合 肘与膝合 肩与胯合
2. if the opponent pushes your elbow in move 3, you quickly lower your forearm as in move 4 gun bei 滚 臂.
3. if the distance is close enough, you contact/tie 贴 the opponent's body first before you kao 靠.
4. tiger jumping/claws are also circling or entanglement or Da Chan 大缠.
5. it is followed by kao 靠.
6. you may also use the elbow and fist to strike/kao in addition to the shoulder/hip.

as you may see, circling around the wrist, elbow or shoulder(chan wan/zhou/bei)is used to open the door/get close/restrain the opponent's wrist/forearm then advance with strikes/attacks.
