  • I lost my job 3 years ago and still can't find work. My husband lost his, too, but found work a year later making less. I wiped out my 401K to pay the bills and still it wasn't enough. We have 2 teenage kids and never lived an extravagant life, just living within our means and trying to make ends meet. Filing Chapter 7 helped save our home and sanity. Don't judge us or those who make that decision to file, it isn't an easy decision to make, especially in this economy.

  • I think people should only be able to file for bankruptcy one time in their lives. I'm seeing too many people abusing bankruptcy laws so they can live extravagant lives without having to pay up... This has to STOP because it's pulling the rest of society down with them. People need to lean that it's not OK to spend more than they make on a regular basis. This is destroying us all. People who file for bankruptcy more than once are the scum of society!

  • I don't think it's that they're trying to encourage bankruptcy. But people shouldn't be afraid of it if it's the only alternative. It's better than ending up homeless on the street, which is the real choice for many people.

  • I cant believe I've actually seen a video that seems to encourage bankruptcy. I know this sounds simplistic, but does anyone want to get off their ass and work for a living anymore ?

  • @hootypatootie ..I know mine won't be that easy, nothing is EVER that easy for me. I go see my lawyer wednesday, give him a retainer, and go from there with the means test (which should be easy, I'm the working poor) and the debt counseling) I'm so stressed, I've gone from a pack of smokes every 3 days, to a pack a day..be glad when it's finally over !

  • Mine took about 4 months. Most of it was getting all the paperwork together and going over stuff with the lawyer. Once it was all straight, we got the court date. I waited for my turn for 2 hours, then spent 2 minutes saying yes and no at the appropriate spots for the judge guy. And that was it. A month later, I'm debt free. I freaked out for no reason at all, grrr. Glad it's over though.

  • mine has taken over 1.5 years.... still waiting. 4 months!! PFFT..

  • here they have some commissioner appointed by judge for you. its a joke and you get screwed. if this works here in vid itll be better if nots fake.

  • was it easy to do? how much does it cost and where did u go? im thinking of doing this myself?

  • I was in a creditors meeting and it was less than 20 mins. The actual hearing talking to the trustee was like 2 mins.
