  • this movie changed my life

  • This movie is loosely based on david bowie. He had a song called velvet goldmine and he did the guitar licking like in the movie. He had an affair with his guitarist. BUT THIS IS AN AWESOME MOVIE!

  • The last film i saw in Italy before i move to london....just to understand better another point of view(i love wemen, all of them)

  • it's about Bowie and Iggy

  • @malissasweety the term is LOOSELY. and it sucked. There was a reason why Bowie wanted nothing to do with it

  • Who doesn't see Bowie in this?

I so want to become an ex-pat 99.9% of the time, the rest of the world has the balls to make a film such as this, and the US will remake the sterilized marketable version of it...

Perfect example..."Priscilla Queen of the Dessert" a fun interesting movie, and then the US made "Too Wong Foo..."

I wish to apologize to the rest of the world for this......

  • Jonathan Rhys Meyer IS the singer on this cover but VIF are the band playing. I have the soundtrack, it stands clearly that JRM is singing this one. You can also hear it if used to his voice.

  • Can you believe Jonathan Rhys meyer was only 19 here? Amazing.

  • its not based on bowie, the whole glam thing was inspiration but its a modern day Dorian Gray....the characters a bit Bowie-esque - but its not biographical or anything.

  • The guitar/penis licking thing kind of turns me on but then again its kinda creepy

  • This is my FAVORITE movie... or one of em anyways.

Shame Bowie didn't like the fact that they based it off of him.

    Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is... wow.

And I love pretty much every actor and song in this movie! lol

  • Actually, Bowie did become a "good" singer. China Girl? Blue Jean? I honestly preferred his work when he was off-key a little bit, say "Ziggy Stardust" era. Must be the punk left in me.

He's outrageously talented. I saw him once, his "Serious Moonlight" tour. My girlfriend pretty much dragged me kicking and screaming all the while telling me that I wouldn't fuck this up for her . . . and I was floored.
