I and my family lived through this ice storm. We were fortunate as we were in a country home with a wood stove. This ice storm stretched as far as Ottawa, Ontario and it rained for 5 days. After the 3rd day, the power went out and was not restored for 2 weeks. The temperature outside dropped dramatically after the 5 days, with high winds. Many people had to leave their homes and go to emergency shelters. It was declared a state of emergency. On our road, hydro poles snapped over like tooth picks4"ice

@Razcul3603 No, the snow melted slowing like a normal snow melt. Flooding depends on total winter snow, quick melt and simultaneous heavy rain.

I lived through a major ice storm, not like this but bad for weeks. No power, roads impassible. But I had a woodstove so I was warm and could cook, So we just spent a lot of evenings telling stories. It was amazing to see trees covered with ice, bent over and so many branches broke. My roof was ruined - ice under the shingles lifted them right off the roof. But I could get wood for the fire - skiied.

.. I remember doing something very foolish during the worse of it all and decided to drive to Montreal, it took me hours to get there going around fallen trees and powerlines. As I got close to montreal the setting sun peaked through the clouds and it was an amazing sight...it looked like the world just ended...it showed us clearly that we are in no way ready for disasters of that scale.

I lived in Farnham (about 1 hour from montreal) during the 98 ice storm, we didnt have electricity for 28 days, after the first few days I had to pretty much abandon my house and move in with my parents in Cowansville 20 minutes away. Amazingly cowansville wasnt touched at all by the freezing rain, but the power was out for close to a month as well. After a few days the temperature in the house dropped to just a few degrees above freezing.
nice vid, seen it on TV, but its 3d graphics is really awesome~~
