His reasons for being against interracial marriage were the same for why he felt some African Americans should immigrate to Africa or South America. He felt, human nature being what it is, they would be better off there with fewer hardships. If alive today, he would get on his knees and thank God he was wrong in this case.

I wonder if freeing the slaves indirectly lead to better advancement of technology. Since what we got today can do much better then a plantation full of slaves. Without slaves it would seem man relied on technology instead.
