I totally agree with that and I've done that before -- but usually I somehow have mutual friends or just somehow is connected to them through people. So usually I just used that.

yes it is definitely easier to meet people online than in person.. BUT.
when you start to date someone or know someone from the internet (that you meet in person), and people ask you how you met them, would you feel awkward to say you met them online, myspace, facebook, etc..?
For me, I feel a bit weird to say something like that and more drawn to come up with a different reason on how i met a person..
