Stop believing in your own hype, stop squabbling on the internet, and go work on your art. Everything else is detrimental. elitist is too much cred to this sad faced muppet. basquiat was the final archetype for the abstract expressionist aethetic. his work put the cap stone on that approach to painting. no one has done it better or as good since him. and u have done what? .........except show ur #$% (?) warhol was as a matter of actual fact a groupie of JMB. do some research before u talk out of ur @#$ thru a straw.

I'm not sure I agree with his thoughts on clinical depression, but those on 'bad students' ring true, if a little generalized. Not to romantize them all, but SOME of the most talented artists I know are mavericks and failing academically. They aren't ticking boxes, they're making their own.

In school, you're taught to think inside the box, but outside is where the real fun is.
