Will someone please tell me what is the real story behind the roots of this style? When I first heard of Sayoc Kali, it was described as a family system, generations old, coming all the way from Cavite in the Philipppines. Now I hear that it was created by the Sayocs after learning various styles. So WTF is it really? If they're going to market themselves well, they better get their propaganda straight. LOL!!!

I still don't know either. I only put this up because I light the music background. Last year I had an opportunity to attend Tuhan Chris Sayoc Jr seminar. It a family system but i heard rumors it's was taken from PTK (peketi tirsia kali).

Sayoc Kali is a constantly evolving system. So it isn't difficult to market, you're asking right now which means there's interest right? Don't get confused by the simple fact that the Sayocs took generations of knowledge on how to organize, define, research, and keep their family art growing when others pride themselves in having a finite set of methods, and basically trolling Sayoc related posts since that's the only way they can market themselves.

what really impresses me about Sayoc Kali that i have not really seen in other FMA systems is the feeder-base mentality training. Lots of systems have defender-base knife training.

Correct, early in my training I desrespected the live blade and i payed for it. Now, i beleave that the blade deserves the utmost respect. I've been training for awhile and for solo prictace i use the live blade also.

Haha I notice many kali masters are quite "chubby" and on the heavy side, but I never wanna mess with them. It is one thing to be fat but another to be fat and dangerously skilled. I think not many can even stay in a fight with Guro Tom Kier for 1 min...Probably get killed

Live blade training. Yep, very first day give noob a long very sharp blade, sharper the better ask them to twirl it it around , maybe spar some people with the live blade. Only way to go ..;)

@anklecranker6 Every tribal warrior culture had dancing and form drills. They are called ritual dances and mock fighting. Also, study up on who you are commenting on about being "alive". If you've never moved a live blade in the night, and expect to fight in bright gym conditions then it will be a good lesson. You propose being alive - well these weapons are very sharp - so you have to know them very well to move around so effortlessly and with confidence.

@anklecranker6 Check the Sayoc Stick fighting drills for "aliveness". This way you will have information before you comment about what Sayoc is about. Also, please display your live blade alive sparring.
