oh ok thatz kool i just guessed that cuz in 1 of yer videoz ther wuz a tornado warning and they used alert and since mason city tests in both alert/attack i just guessed that alert wuz 4 tornadoz and attack 4 civil defense emergencies.but anyway thx

@Droideka133 only one is 'up' but non functional, its on city hall and can't be reached for some reason.

it really depends on the municipality. In Mason City, thats the idea although, not so much anymore as the threat for an air attack has very much diminished over the last couple decades... Its up to the city leaders to determine which specific tone would best warn the citizens. I've seen tornado videos where a Hi-Lo tone was used, so its really not set in stone.
