"The books written by the Puritans have more sense in one line than does a page in our new books"

Amen indeed. Even before the Puritans, the Church Fathers wrote at length on all issues concerning the Christian religion and each and every work they wrote, no matter how lengthy, was in-depth and worth the read (Irenaeus-Against Heresies,Origen-De Principiis, Chrysostom's Homilies, all of Augustine's works, and the list goes on...)

Great video. The Church today needs this message.

It doesn't work that way. You need Him. He doesn't need you. He is perfect. The attibute of aseity teaches that.

If anti intellectualism is in the Bible, then why would God create humans with intelligence?
I think some people themselves prove this notion by LITERALLY doing what is on the Bible.

Sometimes I hear old guys talking, and sometimes I have no idea what they're saying.
And then I open my Bible, and by the Lord's grace, everything is crystal clear.

How would you like Him to prove himself to you?Have you looked at your hands, with the veins, tendons, thumb and fingers being placed just right for you to grasp, to do surgery on the intricate eye, spinal cord, or miles of blood vessels, or brain protected by a skull? There will be no excuse says God(Romans)All nature gives testimony of Him. Read the Bible; learn about God who through His Son(God Himself) paid it all for you to have eternal life. The proof of God's existence? It's already given.

Thank you for this. I'm just learning about reformed theology as well as many other Christian doctrines. I've looked long and hard at many doctrines. I think God would expect no less.

Paul, while in Lystra preached:
Act 14:15...We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
Act 14:16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
Act 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

"Casting one's self on the promise" ...what a beautiful way to describe faith.
I have a personal testimony that is truly dazzling. God has done amazing things in my life, the equivalent of His parting the Red Sea in Exodus.
He does this for all of His children.
For those who are not His children, I encourage you to read the Bible and take it to heart. It is the only thing that matters, that book that you have ignored all your life.
Please, atheist, read the Bible!

God 'proves' Himself to those He calls. It does say in the Word to seek God and you will find Him.
However, if you do not seek Him you will not find Him.
God has certain attributes, just as people do. You really should seek God whilst He may be found.
Your own hostility to God is proof, too, since God says that the mind of the unregerated man is hostile to Him.
You should read the Bible.

HOW THE HECK CAN YOU SAY WE DON'T KNOW GOD, simply from your lack of experience?
We have experienced him, we know him; thus, your lack of experience CAN NOT overpower an experience already occurred.
It says in the Bible, seek, and you will find him.
Thanks for sharing. Do you know where I might be able to find a written version of Spurgeon's message he's quoting from?

I'm not sure where the ones for this particular video are. There are many of Spurgeon's writings at spurgeon(.)org though.

God got angry, because Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge.
There. There's proof. Anti-Intellectualism IS biblical.
Atheist001 3 years ago
Sir, it's obvious that either you are unaware of what the tree of knowledge was or you are willingly suppressing the truth of what you do know. I assume it's a little of both.

The Bible meant what it said. The tree of knowledge is the tree of knowledge.
Written in black and white, right there in the Bible.

As Brett said earlier in the comments, "You also took that out of context and left out the fact that the tree held the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil- not knowledge itself. Good try."
