  • You don't keep it outside 24/7 do you? That will overheat the snake and kill it. A lamp with a 60wat bulb is all you need to keep it at a good temperature gradient. (80-85 on one side, 65-75 on the other).

    And stay on top of that water. It's lookin' empty.

  • Well, when they're out on their own, they have the option of going anywhere they want, underground, under shelter, in water, anywhere they want to keep cool. They stay hidden, and don't come out in the heat of the day, but he won't have that option now, and will get way too hot.

    Snakes are cold blooded, and have to maintain a good body temp too, but don't have blood that heats itself, so they have to bask in the sun to get warm, but then they have to be able to cool it. =) He can't do that now.
