if you had ever read conan books you would know hes not dumb...but i do like the idea of character flaws i always try to give my characters one

Additionaly, I limit magic items (DnD) severely making potions, arrows and scrolls available but almost all other items be like artifact/relic/ inteligent items very rare and with drawbacks.

This "convention" series is some of the best episodes you've had. My solutions to powergaming have been in defining what treasure was...you can only gain so many gold pieces before limitations creep in....so you need land, reputatio, retainers, politics, alliances etc. these all create adventuring oppurtunities.

Also I love the idea of an achilles heel idea..A fighter with low intelligence(conan) a mage with low Constitution (raistlin) etc.

It's nice to hear that someone else is a fan of urban dark fantasy (ie: Call of Cthulu, World of Darkness, etc). It's a fun genre that allows for not only alot role-playing opportunity's but gives you a lot of flexibility in how you want to represent them.
