Please Spread the video, helps to return the Parthenon Marbles.
Of the 97 extant stones from the Parthenon frieze, 56 are in London and 40 in Athens. Of the 64 extant metopes, 48 are located in Athens and 15 in London. Of the 28 extant forms of pediments, 19 are in London and 9 in Athens.
After almost 200 years, it is time to do the right thing. It is time to give the Greeks what is rightfully and historically theirs. It is time to return the Parthenon marbles to Athens, and to be exhibited at the new museum which have been built just for this purpose next to the temple they were located for over 2200 years.

  • How many people are aware that Lord Elgin was descended from one of Scotland's greatest heroes - Robert The Bruce?

  • @MrBabies123 did not know that, but certainly Lord elgin is the shame for the name of the great hero of Scotland

  • The marbles are better off at the British museum...the Turks were using it for target practice and the Greeks let them rot!

  • @macsharma1 I know the marble does not rot. Elgin stole the marbles 2200 years after its construction, and not had rotted.

you say to rot the next 200 years??

  • Maybe if the US, France,Russia, and other countries lobbied for the return of the Marbles. Perhaps the UK Parliament might ask the Trustees or whom ever is capable of negotiating a settlement. As an act of goood relations for the 2012 Olympics & in shore to further off. Then again the UK just might tell everyone to P#ss Off, and mind their own beezwax.

  • @Dakers11 I hope to return the marbles.

although I do not think because the money you earn the British Museum from the marbles are many

  • @dionisosb I completely agree, I was calling the Greeks the forgers(people who made) democracy. I think I wrote that slightly wrong because there was no offence intended at all. I'm an archaeology undergraduate, so I do know all that Greece has done. I just want to assure people that most of Britain wants you to have the marbles back, but its the museum which refuses. Britain as a nation respects Greece and I am saddened that a thief and vandal has ruined your opinion of us.

  • Lord Elgin is just an asshole the marbles are greek and they must be returned!!!!

  • Retaliation , let's go steal Big Ben

  • How about the Greeks buy them of the British, Oh...wait a second.

  • So he only got permission to take some from the ground but not the proper Parthenon right? I'm gonna go to the British museum on Monday so I have to find facts. :)

  • which is the soundtrack

  • @macsharma1 You know, my mom though me something very simple: do not take or keep what does not belong to you. But aside from the ethical issue…. would you feel if any foreign entity thorn apart the Eiffel tower, the statue of liberty, Buckingham palace, or any other piece of history or art from your country? And even as an admirer, would you rather see those monuments in a museum or live, where they belong?

  • ONLY A BARBARIC NATION WITH NO CIVILISATION BUT WITH GREAT ENVY OF THE GLORY OF HELLENES WOULD STEAL THE EPITOMY OF HUMAN EXISTENCE.THE MARBLES OF PARTHENON

  • Thieves.……

  • @jasoncboy888 No no you don't understand, he didn't just walk in there and take them, well actually that's exactly what he did. But what the British say is that Elgin obtained a firman from Sultan who was ruling at the time time allowing him and his artists into Parthenon and surrounding areas. Elgin decided to take some of the damaged sculptures and shipped them back to the UK. Although now some challenge this Firman and say it doesn't exist. I'm British and I think it doesn't exist.

  • @itachiitachi1946 I'm British and weirdly I agree with you.

  • FUCK U BRITISH.I FUCKING HATE YOU.I REALLY FUCKING HATE YOU.U DONT HAVE UR OWN CULTURE AT ALL .THATS WHY U DONT WANNA GIVE BACK TO GREECE WHAT RIGHTFULLY IS OURS.CUT THE CRAP CUT ALL THAT KIND OF BULLSHIT SHUT YOUR LAME ASS MOUTHS AND GIVE BACK WHAT UR LAME ASS GAY ANCESTOR ELGIN STOLE FROM GREECE.ANATHEMA TO ALL OF YOU

  • The situation is quite different from most other foreign artefacts held in museums: it is obvious that the marbles should be reunited. It would be absurd to suggest that the Greeks give the remaining marbles to the British. If it were a triptych and two parts were in one country and just one part in the country of origin I think it would be obvious that the two parts should be returned. It is common sense that the British Museum return the marbles to their original site location.

  • I am just wandering something about the British museum. Why don't they have their own artifacts? OH THAT'S RIGHT. THEY HAVE NONE. And if they were to return them the British Museum will close

  • i dont get it. how could elgin just stole it... there were people watching!

  • @DKDamilos The exhibits in the British Museum, are not considered foreign politics. The Trustees have final say on the exhibits, by law they belong to the trustees and not the UK parliament(This is so the government could no longer sell works from the museum for revenue). The Trustees are the ones keeping the marbles from you, if Brits and Greeks work together then maybe enough pressure can be placed on the museum for them to be returned.

  • @EbsNhexz According to you then the Museum is over the UK government. I am sorry but it doesn't make any sense for a museum doing foreign politics instead of an elected representative. And since UK's own financial interests come before anyone else for your government (something natural) cannot put any pressure on the museum to return the exhibits. Am I wrong?

  • @DKDamilos It is the MUSEUM that refuses to give you your marbles back! Not the UK government or the British people! I fully support the return of the marbles to Greece, actively as-well as in opinion. Its the trustees who decide to keep them. You really need to learn what the situation is before insulting Britain as a whole. The UK is where you can gain your most influential support. And Elgin stole the marbles for himself, not for Britain.

  • @EbsNhexz They could keep copies - or... if the Brits had some sort of culture take the whole temple instead of parts of the ceiling and statues! :p This is more like a viking loot than an action expected from "Lords" of a "supreme Empire"! :p

  • the Marbles belong to Greece ...

  • @sotirisdigi I genuinely think most of Britain supports the return of the Marbles, and those than don't are either very few in number or simply do not know of their existence. It is not `Britain` than will return the marbles but the British Museum. Denying the flame might make people take drastic action against the museum so it could be a good plan. It's not just Greece is support but basic respect of cultural heritage.
