  • That makes sense, since I just spent the winter in Baja Sur!! Gracias!

  • Wow your work is amazing. I love the way you make the marks on your surface and you seem to have such an even levelled surface at the end....beautiful.

  • very inspiring work

  • Hi Shawna I'm a fan of your work and love the medium. I've been playing with wax trying to achieve a smooth surface, but I'm getting these small holes, as if the wax is resisting the surface which is unprimed, untreated wood. Do you have any suggestions? I'd love to know the formula for the wax you use to create large pieces. Would love to hear from you! Thanks for any help you are willing to give! In beauty, Teresa

  • Hey Shawna-I'm really wishing I could ask you a question about the medium! Do you answer questions? I'm out here in CA Do you ever get out this way? Teresa

  • @mmbbmike You too, huh? I've watched it numerous times and just watched it again for the 12th time or so. It helped inspire me to start working with encaustics and I've just started doing it on a much smaller scale. Shawna is amazing! Good luck to you...Juliana

  • Just love this video. It helped inspire me to do more with encaustics. I've watched it a good 10-12 times or more and have shared it every time...watched it again today and it's still inspiring to me! You are amazing Shawna...so very gifted! God bless you...Juliana

  • Dear shawna

    Thank you for you video

What is the material that you mix with the wax and what kind of painting are you using

  • finally!

  • the same with me! i watch it to get inspired often, see more each time i visit it.

what wood is best for a substraight of this size work?

    Jamie

  • this is a beautiful video. The largest I have worked encaustic is approximately 8'x 6', but it is more of a wall relief sculpture. I enjoyed watching the way you build up texture....

  • I don't think it is canvas, it's not flexing like a canvas would with all that pressure. scraping, hammering etc. I think its a wood substrate.
