Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1980:

Midnight Oil's promo-video for the hit single 'Back On The Borderline' (May, 1980), taken from the 1979 album 'Head Injuries'.

Note: Original bass player Andrew "Bear" James does not appear in this video; due to the ill-health that would be the cause of his departure.

It's taken me 17 years to find this video and I do apologize for the poor picture quality. This video is extremely rare! However, there is another copy that is floating about and will be in my possession very soon. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, you can enjoy this 'artistic' version, complete with poor colour balance and B&W interference. This video has come straight off an old VHS video tape; most likely from around 1980.

*A very special thank you to Bruce for sending me this wonderful video*

Don't worry mate. The rabbit is a troll. Just another small-minded knucklehead. Pete Garrett has done nothing more than try to do the right thing by his country. He got screwed by the people that wanted to see him crash and burn. He has been fighting an uphill battle from the moment he entered Parliament House. There's still time for him to do what he needs to do.

    Cheers!

  • This is when garrett had credibility

  • Oh yeah...now you're uploading some great SHIT.

Head Injuries is an awesome album. Thanks again.

  • Great Band, Head Injuries is possibly one of my favorite albums, Keep Burnin the midnight oil!!!!

  • I remember having this album (head injuries) in the family record collection when I was a young teenager, but a place without a postcard and 10 to 1 overshadowed it, 30 years on I decided to revisit head injuries again, I now think it's their best, maybe not as well produced as 10 to 1, but what a fantastic album, raw, genuine hard rock.

  • Oh that dancing! Brilliant. I'm proud to say this was my favourite band in the mid to late 80s and early 90s. I was always aware of 10, 9, 8....... and previous records and singles, but was 15 when Diesel and Dust came out, then I went into their back catalogue and discovered gold.

  • Rob Hurst - Power Drummer

  • saw them play at the Raffles hotel, Perth '79. Only 15 people in a small bar. Brilliantly awesome!

  • @MrJamesBond007 It doesnt take acid to realise that Peter Garrett is our' 'Arni' He's alway's cared for us & our great country & hopefully soon He'll lead us to our future.

  • The first time I tripped on LSD was listening to this song in a mates Kombi van with a few other uni mates from Adelaide going on a surfing trip along the Great Ocean Road in 1982. Memories!
