The UMass Police assembled a 16-member team that participated in the inaugural Mass Dash relay race July 17-18 across Massachusetts, raising about $2,000 for the Jimmy Fund's fight against cancer. The group, led by team captain Patrick Archbald, assailed Mount Greylock, coursed rugged hills, survived 90-degree temperatures and reached UMass Boston after 32 hours, 34 minutes and 44 seconds. Rita Contardo and Ryan Scott crossed the finish line together, completing the 200-mile adventure.
