i think that having a religious school in general is a ridiculous proposition. How can you have a place for learning empirical facts that then teach fictitious fairytales as fact?

Very true, but this school wasn't even about arab culture, It was purely a dual language school, meant to help integrate people into American society. the controversy was invented by a bunch of racist crackpots.

How enlightening. I wish they would teach many cultures in school systems but that would be very confusing.

I know Khalil Gibran proposes love, but that does not mean that the school in his name will propose love too. do you think his spirit will guide the school?

Seems to me like people who aren't educated in religion are not really educated about our world. Religion is not just spirituality. It's historical, cultural, and unfortunately, political. Understanding the various religious mindsets among us is important for the evolution of human society, regardless of what is fact or fiction. The only true reality is that we are all living here together under one sky, in the words of my friend Ba

Is that way white too? We're obviously not doing very well when you haven't even mentioned the "christian" slaughter of native americans--those to whom this country truly belongs. It's people like you who blanket themselves in ignorance and assume there is only one way and that is their way.

You, of all people, may benefit from a little mind-prying open education from any culture outside that which you are familiar with. I love the United States, but if your parents weren't immigrants, I don't consider you capable of understanding the true meaning of the American way. Besides, true Christians embrace even their enemies so what are you talking about? Jesus came from the middle east. maybe you should think about that.

get real...its ok to learn about other countries..I say if you dont want to live the AMERICAN WAY....LEAVE AND GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM..PLEASE...WE DONT WANT THE AMERICAN WAY DESTROYED..WE FOUGHT SO HARD TO KEEP IT HERE..THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED UNDER CHRISTIAN PRINCIPALS AND HAS DONE WELL...OTHERWISE why would so many people want to leave their own country and come here...think about it...

i didn't say learn ABOUT other countries. I meant to convey the concept of learning FROM other countries. The "American Way" has a multi-cultural foundation and we ought to protect our right to co-exist among every religion and culture of the world (yes, they all exist here in blessed America) instead of thinking there is such a thing as the "Christian" American way.

That responsibility lies in the hands of the administrators but I would hope they would take the opportunity to live up the name. Even though most great things can't live up to their names, everything should get a shot rather than be red flagged for xenophobia. i know that if i worked at that school i would be doing everything in my power to keep the spirit alive
