hi there. good luck with the NYC Marathon - two tips for you:
1) train as much as you can before the race, including long runs such as 20-25 miles and
2) wear a t-shirt with your name sewn/written onto the front

it was mainly through friends and family sponsoring me, and was all done on-line so nice and easy. some people might get companies sponsoring them but not on this occasion.

Do you know thousands of people? How did so many people know your name to cheer you on? Amazing. How much training did you do?

one of the best tips that somebody who had run it before gave me, was to sew your name into your t-shirt so that people can cheer you on personally, and they did! Such a buzz having everyone shout your name

I'm in week 3 of training for the 2008 race.

well, around 1 year of training (2 runs a week) and in the 4 months prior stepping up to 4/5 runs mid-week and a long run at the weekend - i think i totalled 200 miles or so in training!
