Gustav Mahler Symphony No.1 - 4th Mov. part1 ==

Asia Philharmonic Orchestra
conducted by MYUNG-WHUN CHUNG ==

Live at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center - 2009, Aug, 7 ==

Asia Philharmonic Orchestra
Asia Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung with musicians of Asian descent to affirm that the diversity of culture and ethnic background can produce not only beautiful music but also deeper harmony and mutual understanding than through any other media.

Asia Philharmonic Orchestra is not a permanent establishment but rather one that is centered more on concerts as a festival orchestra. Making a successful debut in 1997, the orchestra immediately proved to belong to the rank of the best orchestra in Asia. In 1998, Korea's top traditional percussion quartet along with finest musicians held a "Salute to Korea" concert in Tokyo's International Forum Hall and Osaka's Symphony Hall. The purpose of the concert was to support Asian countries having an economic crisis while emphasizing the unity and harmony behind the foundation of Asia Philharmonic.

In an effort to highlight the historical moment of the year 2000, a millennium concert was held, consisting of one hundred musicians from Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and others along with Violinist Sarah Chang.

In 2006, remarkably talented Asian musicians active in thirty-one different orchestras reunited after 6 years and performed superbly. The year 2007 marked the orchestra's ten year anniversary and to celebrate, the orchestra performed in Seoul, Toyama and Tokyo.

  • right! music is NOT about faces! i am a musician and i know some of the ones, that played in this concert, and they are top class!

  • @fmalloy1

    wow you must be like god in musician world. I think maybe is better you don't look at it. Hear music with your ear is maybe a better idea.

  • There is something strange about this, and it's not a complaint - the music is true to life in the storm that young Mahler created in this movement. The power and the fury, the passion is all there. Good as any orchestra I've heard on the Mahler 1. The tempo, dynamics, execution - all perfect! But to look on these young musicians faces - they look so blank and uninspired, even when all that raw power and emotion is pouring out...

    I'm not a musician so I suppose its pure concentration and focus?

  • wow what an amazing orchestra... such power from every section.

  • Don't see that every day, folks.

  • Inspired composition, inspired playing

  • 3:38 reminded me of Wagner's Tristan and Isolde....

  • Truly magnificent and perfect !!

  • ive never seen orchetra so perfectly I mean "perfectly" in tune all together!

  • Wow. Honestly, the beginning is BRILLIANT.
